Artist Statement

My first memories are of colour -- a canary-yellow balloon my parents bought for me when I was two, a cherry-red tricycle, a shimmering aqua swimming pool. Colour can make memories more vivid and transform the mood of a room or an experience. It is powerful!

In my work, I like to build layers of translucent acrylic colour and other mixed media to draw the viewer into a piece, often using complementary shades and bold pops of colour to build drama. I currently create work in three different collections: Daydream, which includes vibrant abstract work; Tranquility, a selection of serene landscapes; and Verdant, nature-inspired paintings with loose brushstrokes. Across these collections, my goal is for a painting to remind the viewer of a special memory, place or state of mind.
