In my art, I focus on the calm, rejuvenating energy where colour and nature intersect. Each painting uses colour to elevate different elements from the outdoors and create a snapshot of a sensory experience. Looking at deep greens in an abstract seascape, I want to hear the waves in my head and feel the mist in the air.
Each piece begins with broad, expressive strokes. Then I gradually build layers of translucent acrylic colour and other mixed media. I often use complementary shades and bold pops of colour to build drama. While features of the landscape provide hints of structure within each piece, I like to leave some space for the viewer to weave in their own story. My goal is for a painting to reconnect people with a special memory, place or state of mind.
